Is the Honor Serving or Being Honored?

I just saw this in the local media. It just makes me wonder if the honor is in serving or if the honor was being elected? This is quite humorous when it comes to petty requests but makes you wonder what is being done during the rest of the meeting?

Facebook Just Bought the Rights to Your Social Media Experience?

Very interesting article on the future of social media and role Facebook will play. In the context of yesterday’s video (for those who read/watched yesterday’s blog). This seems to re-enforce the idea that your organizations will need to find customers and donors in the future via social media, they will not be trying to find you. Are you ready?

What Are You Focussed On?

Occasionally we all sit in a movie theater and a person takes the seat in front of us and blocks our field of vision? Their head or hair becomes the central focal point and you must adjust to find a less satisfactory sight-line to the screen. Hopefully the patron shifts their body and suddenly the obstacle is removed and you have a perfect view of the screen.

When the obstacle or focal point is removed I find that I quickly (almost immediately) forget that my viewing experience had been hindered (unless the head comes back). If the alignment works, we are able to remain in our own cocoon and view the movie without any thought to the people seated in the rows in front of us and completely forget about those behind. But once an obstacle appears in our fore-ground we take notice.

Advertisers, causes, fundraisers, bloggers, media outlets, etc are all attempting to briefly be the head that pops-up in front of you and grab your attention.

What are you focused on? How can you position your enterprise to break into the field of vision of a potential audience? How can you make your message be meaningful enough that people are willing to be engaged and not annoyed?

Now about those cell phones in the movies….
